Sevilla defend their ‘Champions’ position and Betis and Rayo face each other for Europe

MADRID, 23 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sevilla FC, fourth-placed in LaLiga Santander, seeks this Sunday (2:00 p.m.) to defend its ‘Champions’ position against the needy Levante, in a tenth round in which Rayo Vallecano travels to Benito Villamarín (6:30 p.m.) to try to stay in European positions against a Real Betis that aspires to them.

At the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, Julen Lopetegui’s men hope to leave behind the draw in Lille (0-0), the third in a row in the top continental competition, to return to focus on the domestic championship, where they want to continue the triumph of the past weekend against RC Celta (0-1).

Currently, the Nervionense team manages 17 units, the same as Real Madrid and Atlético and only three of the surprising leader, Real Sociedad. With Koundé, Acuña and En-Nesyri already recovered and with Rekik’s only loss, he faces a duel against an opponent whom he has won in five of his last six league games – with a draw.

After the dismissal of Paco López, Javier Pereira took the controls of the granota team and achieved a draw last day in his debut against Getafe (0-0). The point, however, was not enough for them to get out of the relegation positions; they are antepenultimate (5) to two units from the save zone. Bardhi and Vukcevic will be in the appointment, but Roger, Campaña and Postigo will miss it due to injury.

For its part, Rayo Vallecano will try to continue with its great start to the campaign, which has allowed it to rise to sixth place in the table, which gives access to the Conference League. Andoni Iraola’s men accumulate 16 points, just four from the lead, and have one advantage over Barça and their rival this Sunday.

Only Osasuna clouded his spectacular streak, in which he added 16 out of 21 possible points, and corrected the path last week beating Elche (2-1). Martín Merquelanz, due to a knee injury, will be the only absence for the Basque coach.

Meanwhile, the Verdiblanco team (15), who in Europe drew a draw at home against Bayer Leverkusen (1-1), are eager to continue the victory against Deportivo Alavés (0-1) in a new appointment before their fans. With three victories in the last four matches of the domestic championship, a good march only cut short by the defeat against Villarreal (2-0), they aspire to sleep in continental positions.
