Sevilla complicates Espanyol’s forecast

Mendilibar’s men come back in Pizjuán before thinking about Juventus and Luis García’s men are three points away from safety

Girona can (2-1) with Mallorca to look up

MADRID, 4 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sevilla beat Espanyol (3-2) this Thursday on matchday 33 of LaLiga Santander to maintain their good feelings before looking for the Europa League final against Juventus and leave the Catalans very touched, while Girona won ( 2-1) to Mallorca and is allowed to look up in the table.

A vibrant first part showed faith in the salvation of Espanyol. The parakeet team rose from Bryan Gil’s 1-0 at 22 minutes with the comeback before the break. After the VAR smiled at the locals, when the Catalan team claimed Rafa Mir’s foul on Cabrera, the referee validated the 1-1 on TV.

Rekik’s own goal touched a Sevilla with many changes, thinking about the Europa League semifinal against Juventus, and Espanyol monopolized the plays with danger, with an unbeatable pardon by Joselu, until Puado took a kick to the squad (1-2). Mendilibar put Acuña and En-Nesyri through the locker room, but the local team did not win, but continued to be inaccurate in their game.

Sevilla woke up with a ball to the crossbar from Ocampos and found it 2-2 on a gift from Vini Souza, a replacement for a touched Darder, in a penalty on Pape Gueye. The Argentine striker made it 2-2 and Pizjuán pushed hard in search of victory. Espanyol defended themselves as best they could, with another crossbar from Ocampos, until Gueye made it 3-2 on minute 88′. A slab for the ‘perico’ team, who claimed a foul on Keidi Bare in the Andalusian sentence, three points from salvation.

Meanwhile, Girona pulled on a plugged-in Taty Castellanos, with six goals in the last three games (including four against Real Madrid), to beat Mallorca. The Argentine striker made it 2-1 in the 84th minute, shortly after Muriqi had tied the game on a penalty. Just before the break, Bernardo had made it 1-0 in Montilivi, where they begin to dream of Europe.

With the goal in favor, the return to the changing rooms was local, squeezing a Mallorca that no longer defended itself comfortably. The siege did not result in more goals and with Javier Aguirre’s change of strategy the visitors improved. In a corner kick, Santi Bueno grabbed Muriqi and the ‘pirate’ converted the maximum penalty after a long VAR review. Taty Castellanos, who was hanging around him, extended his idyll with the goal to make it 2-1.
