Setback to Prince Harry: When the police tell you they’re not “bodyguards for the rich”

Nothing. There is no way. He Prince Harry insists on continuing with the legal battle against the UK Government for wanting to hire agents from the Metropolitan Police Service (MET) to work as personal bodyguards when he and his Sussex family travel to British soil. he posts it The Sun y The New York Post.

This battle is in the hands of Harry’s lawyers, who are trying to challenge the government’s decision not to allow the hiring of public police to carry out private security functions, nor to pay for that service.

In this tug of war of interests, spokespersons for the legal team that defends the Government insist that the security demanded by the Dukes of Sussex cannot be compared to the devices that are deployed when a popular marathon or a great sporting event such as a football match or concert; and that it is not equivalent to use “police officers as private bodyguards for the rich.”

It must be remembered that this battle originated three years ago, in 2020, when the dukes announced their departure and resignation from their duties in the Royal House, an operation known as Megxit. Since then, the prince, Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet, have no protection when they set foot in the UK.
