The Serie A clubs met again by teleconference this afternoon, discussing the latest news of the coronavirus emergency. Impossible, for the moment, to establish a date to resume the championships, although it seems certain that, achieving it until May 10, it would be possible to conclude the season before June 30: if this were not the case, an agreement would have to be sought to extend contracts and transfers until July. In the worst case, if the championships will have to be permanently suspended, the losses would be around 800 million euros and the state's help would have to be asked to save the movement, with several clubs condemned to bankruptcy in this situation. The idea of the playoffs and playouts, apparently, has not conquered anyone.
Another issue that has been discussed is the possible suspension of soccer players' salaries: at the moment, it is considering blocking March payments, although it will take a negotiation with the soccer federation and association to achieve an agreement. The Serie A teams, on the other hand, did not discuss the training issue, which had already caused some tension, with Lazio wanting to return to work on Monday. The clubs will follow the averages of the authorities: the emergency is still very serious and another government decree should arrive this weekend.
