Serena Williams and Coco Gauff watch the US Open from Lexington

Serena Williams returns to competition this Tuesday at the Top Seed Open in Lexington (Kentucky) after the stoppage due to the coronavirus with his eyes set on the US Open, where he waits to reach Margaret Court once and for all as the tennis player with the most Grand Slam in history (The Australian has 24 to 23 of the American) after winning her last major at the Australian Open in 2017 despite reaching several Grand Slam finals.

At 38 years old (he will turn 39 in September) Williams, who lost in the third round at the last Australian Open tonte Qiang Wang and who helped the United States reach the final phase of the Federation Cup (lost to Sevastova but beat Ostapenko in the tie against Latvia) He is one of the big stars on Tuesday's matchday at the Lexington tournament, where he will play against Bernarda Pera as the main favorite for the title and where her sister Venus Williams also debuts today against another posh tennis player like Victoria Azarenka.

Besides the Williams sisters, Another attraction of the day in Lexington is seeing the return of Coco Gauff. The 16-year-old tennis player wants to continue impressing the public after reaching the round of 16 at the last Australian Open, where she got rid of 2019 champion Naomi Osaka. Gauff will make his debut against his compatriot Caroline Dolehide and if he wins, he will meet in the second round with the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, second favorite for the title.

Both Williams and Gauff face the Lexington tournament as a first test for their great goal in the restart of the season, the US Open (Before they are expected to participate in the Western & Southern Open, also in the 'bubble' of New York), where Serena hopes to reign again after falling in the 2018 and 2019 finals, and where Gauff hopes to consolidate herself in the tennis elite with his first Grand Slam title despite his youth.
