Senegal, with Koulibaly: “They kill us but they don’t dishonor us”

Italian football continues to star in deplorable episodes of racism on the pitch. During the match between Atalanta and Naples in Bergamo, Several players of the Partenopeo team suffered racist insults, being Kalidou Koulibaly, again, the main focus of them. And it is that, in 2018, the sports judge of the Series A already sanctioned The Goddess for some “songs of racial discrimination” against the Senegalese defender of Naples, some events that cost him the closure during a match in the north curve of the Bergamo stadium, an area from which the insults were uttered.

That is why the Senegal team has come out in defense of its captain to denounce the umpteenth case of racism suffered by Kalidou Koulibaly. Through his official Twitter account, the Senegalese Football Federation has issued a statement, showing its support and admiration for the Napoli footballer for the situation suffered in Bergamo during the last day of Serie A:

“As usual, some Bergamo supporters of Atalanta have repeated their human stupidity by hurling vile and racist insults at our captain and leader Kalidou Koulibaly. The Senegalese people wholeheartedly support you and rise as one man to be proud of your courage, your bravery, your exemplary role and your belonging to our race and our country.. Captain courage, they will never be able to you. You said it yourself during the reception at the Palace of the Republic after our victory in the CAN (African Cup of Nations): ‘They kill us but they don’t dishonor us’. Senegal and Africa are proud of you. You are the staunch defender of our colour, our identity and our culture. That is why you are the most beautiful and strongest.”

Likewise, at the end of the meeting, the Bergamasco team published a statement on its official website, condemning the racist insults against Koulibaly and disassociating himself from those who could have uttered those songs:

“Atalanta BC announces that it will vigorously oppose any behavior that is not in line with the principles of civility and education, always persecuted by this club. We do not want, and we emphasize it, to give visibility to issues that have nothing to do with our environment and, therefore, without clamor or generalization, We will act in the appropriate forums so that the image of the club and the city of Bergamo are protected”.
