Sebastián Mora has a bad start and finishes 14th in the World Championship omnium

MADRID, 15 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Sebastián Mora had to react to a bad start and finally finished 14th this Saturday in the omnium test of the Track Cycling World Championship, which is being held in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines

The man from Castellón did not start the combined Olympic event in the best way, finishing 16th in a scratch led by New Zealander Aaron Gate and in which a huge effort to close a cut hindered him in the last laps to try to improve. In the Tempo Race, despite winning a lap, Mora could only finish 13th.

In the elimination, the Spaniard also failed to add the necessary points to get into the fight for the medals as he was eliminated early, being 17th in a test in which the Frenchman Benjamin Thomas convincingly won.

All in all, a great version of Mora could be seen in the score, fighting until the end and adding up in the penultimate sprint and winning the lap with about fifteen laps to go to finally establish himself 14th with 62 points. For his part, Ethan Hayter won the world champion jersey again.

“An omnium is the set of the four tests and if you are dragging those positions from the first tests… Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t. We are physically well, but this is the competition, sometimes you lose and sometimes you win Mora said in statements provided by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC).

For her part, Helena Casas was the first national representative to jump to the Parisian wood on Saturday, concurring in a timed 500 meters that finished marking 34,554 and getting 20th place.

Immediately afterwards, Alejandro Martínez, who entered the speed qualifying rounds after setting his personal best in the 200 meter dash, took over. The man from Alicante stopped the clock at 9,847 to be 28th in a high-level qualifying round. However, Martínez could not overcome the Australian Cornish in the 1/16 final.

Finally, Ziortza Isasi did not find his best feelings in an individual pursuit that ended 20th with a time of 3:42.632. Likewise, Tania Calvo and Laura Rodríguez had to abandon a test in which Belgium won by a single point of difference against the host France.
