MADRID, 1 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Argentine tennis player Sebastián Báez won the tournament in Estoril (Portugal), in the ATP 250 category and which is played on clay, by beating the American Frances Tiafoe (6-3, 6-2).
Báez, who in 2022 achieved his first ATP final in Santiago, scored the first title of his career in a match that started below and suffered with his serve. Tiafoe broke first and had the great option of a second ‘break’ to go in the set.
However, the Argentine warmed up with that third game of survival and chained four games in a row, without letting the first set escape. The second set was even, but in the decisive games the Argentine was better again, who will make the jump to the ‘Top 40’ in the world on Monday, from 59th place.
