Seattle Seahawks Player Suffers a Neck Injury

Kalan Reed, the Seattle Seahawks cornerback will be ending his football career in just under four years. He faced a neck injury at one of the preseason games. The injury has been considered to be serious enough and can end the career for Kalan Reed.

It was reported that he suffered a grievous injury to his back while playing against the Los Angeles Chargers in the week 3 preseason game. The inputs from Reed’s agent, Harold Lewis indicate that the damage to his neck can “put him at serious risk if he plays again.” He is expected to visit a specialist this week, according to Pete Carroll who is the Seattle Seahawks coach.

Kalan Reed was the 253rd and final pick of the 2016 NFL Draft and was normally considered to be an off season candidate for the job of a cornerback. He started his NFL career with Tennessee Titans. He came to Seattle Seahawks in 2018.

The neck injury has placed him on the Injured Reserve category for the 2019 season. Incidentally, he was competing for a spot for the Seahawks’ nickel cornerback position. However, the neck injury has shattered his hopes for the season. With Reed out of the competition for the season, the chase for the spot as the nickel cornerback will now be between Akeem King, Jamar Taylor and Ugo Amadi.

The injury has come up as a serious dampener for the promising NFL player. Seattle Seahawk actually had an eye on him for the 2019 season. Let us just hope he makes a comeback, but the chances are quite minimal.
