Footballers from the Eastern Flames and Al-Riyadh FC went this Sunday to the so-called 'Palco 0' of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) at the Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) for the “visibility of women's football” in the country, during the Spanish Super Cup dispute, between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, as reported by the entity this Monday.
Within the campaign 'Football is the way. Football is the way/ #Football is coming', with a large poster at the Al-Awwal in the final of this competition, coaches and footballers from Saudi Arabia starred in “the visibility of women's football and its progress” in the Super Cup matches of Spain, within the initiative organized by the RFEF to “give voice to the progress of this sport as a tool for social change.”
Thus, athletes from the Eastern Flames and Al-Riyadh women's clubs were present in 'Palco 0' of the stadium, which sought to “make social causes visible” and the “importance that the advancement of women's football is having in this country.” .
Al-Riyadh FC coach Ana Junyent confessed that “I had another vision” and “I thought this didn't help when I was in Spain”, although she acknowledged that it does help. “That we are here makes people know us and see us function and work. All the movements that the RFEF are making help a lot,” she highlighted.
For her part, the Al Riyadh player Al-Anoud Al-Ali said she was “very lucky” to go to that 'Box 0', while the president of the Eastern Flames, Maram Al-Butairi, insisted that the presence of the players in the final stadium “is very important.” “We are proud to collaborate with the RFEF. It is exciting to enjoy it together,” she added.
Among other actions during the tournament, the RFEF organized training sessions in Jeddah and Riyadh led by the national coach, Montse Tomé, together with the RFEF Training School, and also motivational talks, such as the one given by Thais Henríquez.
