MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Madrid Basketball Federation (FBM), Santos Moraga, will receive the 2022 Raimundo Saporta award from the Spanish Association of Basketball Coaches (AEEB) for his “great work”, “dedication” and “promotion” of the basket sport.
Santos Moraga has always been related to sport and, especially, to basketball, a sport in which he has been a player and coach. In the eighties he began to collaborate with the Madrid Basketball Federation and was general secretary of the Madrid phase in the 1986 Men’s World Cup.
In 1997, the president of the FBM, Juan Martín Caño, entrusted him with the economic management of the federation as treasurer and, in 2008, named him first vice president. Among other positions related to Madrid sports, Moraga was general manager of the Community of Madrid Stadium, currently Cívitas Metropolitano, between 1995 and 2003, and was part of the Executive Committee of the 2008 European Junior Basketball Championship.
In September 2018, after the death of Juan Martín Caño, Santos Moraga was elected president of the FBM, a position that he renewed in June 2020.
The delivery of the Raimundo Saporta trophy will take place on December 23 during the XXVI Clínic Raimundo Saporta at the San Blas Municipal Sports Center.
