Santi Yusta: “The team’s chemistry will be evident on the track”

MADRID, 16 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Casademont Zaragoza forward Santi Yusta has assured that the team’s “chemistry” will be felt “on the court” in this new season, in which they must aspire to finish a little “higher up” and stop being “in the middle-low part of the table.”

“Training all together on the first day makes the chemistry come sooner, which is very important for a team, that we have good chemistry off the court, because on the court it will be noticeable,” he said in statements to the media during the presentation of the 2024-25 Endesa League. “From the first day we have all been there, except for some who have arrived three or four days late, but we have all been together to work well as a team and to understand each other,” he added.

The captain of the Zaragoza team, who is “confident”, believes that the preseason has gone “very well”. “Despite having had a couple of defeats, I think we have had a good game. The signings have been very good and we have made a very good group, both on and off the court,” he said, stressing how the public accompanied them at the José Luis Abós Memorial, where they beat Baskonia. “Yesterday, in our first home game, a friendly, a lot of people came. I see the fans involved,” he stressed.

Regarding the Liga Endesa aspirations, the Madrid native explained that they must “head a little higher and stop being in the middle-lower part of the table.” “I think we can do it this year,” he declared. “I hope that, at the very least, we can be in the important competitions, get as high as possible and, obviously, reaching the final and winning it would be like a super coup,” he said.

He also stressed that “activity” will be one of the team’s strong points. “In this preseason we have been super active, super hard, both defensively and running. It will be activity, energy, that is what we are going to aim for,” he warned, before talking about how they face the European competition. “Now in October it starts. We assume this with great enthusiasm, it means that the club will show itself in Europe, and I think we are going to do very well,” he explained.

Speaking about his teammates, Yusta said that they have a lot of potential. “Dubljevic is a top European player who has decided to come to Zaragoza and can give us a lot. Obviously, Spissu is also a great point guard. Joaquín Rodríguez, a very good player, comes from the Second Division with a lot of hunger, and I think he will do very well,” he said.

Finally, he revealed the reasons for his renewal with the Aragonese club. “They have shown me that I am important to them, and I am very pleased with that. I have been here in my best years, and I think it is time to continue,” he concluded.
