“It’s no coincidence when teams win so many very important competitions”
MADRID, 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Getafe’s coach, Quique Sánchez Flores, highlighted the Real Madrid squad, the team he will face this Saturday on matchday eight of LaLiga Santander, including Karim Benzema, “the next Ballon d’Or”, although “he will begin to doubt “if the Frenchman is not finally the winner.
“Benzema will be the next ballon d’or, and if it isn’t, we’ll have to start doubting our decisions. Karim does everything on the pitch, but we’re not just going to play his game, we have a lot of internal clashes”, he explained in the press conference prior to the duel.
“I like Real Madrid, they’ve been fairly balanced in their decisions and successful in their squad compositions in recent years. It’s no coincidence when teams win so many very important competitions. They have a great balance between youth and expert players,” he acknowledged the azulón coach on the madridistas, who have “a lot of energy” beyond their quality that “is taken for granted”.
For this reason, the coach admitted that they face the duel with “illusion” and in search of the three points. “The last game doesn’t guarantee the next one, neither when we lose nor when we win. It’s very pompous to play against Real Madrid, a lot of attention is added and for us it’s important that we stay alert. We take the game very seriously and with the idea to place ourselves where we want to be at the table,” he said.
Asked about Luis Milla, who has only played one game after his signing from Granada -and in which he was sent off-, Sánchez Flores stated that “always” he has seen him well. “That’s why he’s at Getafe. I like that the fans have enthusiasm for the players. But the problem is that many have been injured or not playing for their clubs, that requires time to adapt, which is leading us to take steps back and much lower than we wanted,” he admitted about the “significant” change in the squad, with more than 10 different players.
“We walk with the idea of growing as a team, every game we try and rehearse things. There is no such thing as perfection, but in practice we can get as close as possible to that. We try to correct ourselves so that what we give to the fans is the closest thing to what they want to see. We try to work in that direction,” said the coach.
In the casualties section, Getafe is still waiting for Arambarri, Maksimovic and Seoane. “We don’t know how they are going to arrive yet. They are in their evolution process. We are going to wait until tomorrow, when we will have the definitive answer to know which players are included in the call,” he settled.
“Last season we didn’t ask the fans for anything at all. They were fundamental in maintaining the category. They expect us to give the best we have. I hope they can be with us all season, we need them if we want to go one step further and position ourselves in another different league than last year. At the Coliseum there will be all kinds of games and we will need them”, he concluded.
