Sami Khedira retires

Sami khedira will hang up his boots next Saturday when he plays the last game of the Bundesliga with the Hertha
of Berlin. The 34-year-old midfielder, champion of the World with Germany and of the Champions with the Real Madrid the same year (2014), he announced it this Wednesday through his social networks.

“After Saturday's game, it's time to say goodbye. I am so proud to have had the opportunity to experience all these special moments with you! Thanks to all the fans, teammates, coaches and of course to my family and friends, “he wrote on Twitter along with a montage in which photographs appear with the jerseys of the four teams he has been in: Stuttgart, Real Madrid, Juventus, Hertha (in addition to the German team).

A long-distance midfielder with great tactical intelligence, he made the great leap of his career when Madrid signed him at the express request of Mourinho from Stuttgart, where he raised the Bundesliga in 2007. The Portuguese coach opted for a footballer with hardly any sign among the greats of Europe (he was 23 years old) and made him a key part of his team in the core together with Xabi Alonso Y Ozil.

The player of Tunisian origin lost prominence after the departure of Mou and the arrival of Ancelotti. But the turning point in his career at Madrid was marked by a serious injury suffered in an international match against Italy. That November 15, 205, he suffered a double ligament tear that kept him in the dry dock for six months. Despite everything, he became a starter in the final of the Champions against him Atlético de Madrid on Lisbon.

After winning the World Cup with Germany (he scored two goals in the semifinals against Brazil but missed the final due to injury), he played his last season with the Madrid before heading to Juventus. In white he played five seasons, played 161 games, scored 9 goals and gave 13 assists.

With the Vecchia Signora, the German played five seasons in which he played 145 games, scored 21 goals and distributed 15 assists. After losing weight over the years in the Juve, last season he returned to the Bundesliga to land in the ranks of the Hertha of Berlin. In a course marked by continuous physical problems, he has only been able to play 9 games.
