Sam Neill, star of Jurassic Park, announces that he suffers from leukemia: “I’m dying”

The New Zealand actor has just released his memoir, Did I ever tell you that?where he has revealed that, at 75, he suffers from blood cancer: “The thing is, I’m dying, so I have to speed this up a bit.”begins the biography in which he recounts his life and his extensive career in Hollywood.

Sam Neill (Peaky Blinders, Thor, The Passenger) tells that he began to feel unwell during the promotion of Jurassic World Dominionin March 2022: “I noticed that I had swollen glands in my body and I went to the doctor. They diagnosed me with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. I am in grade 3,” he told in The Guardian.

The actor underwent chemotherapy treatment which worked for a few months. Now he keeps the cancer at bay with a drug that he is given once a month and that he will have to maintain for life, even if the disease remits: “The last year has had dark moments, but those dark moments put the light on a strong relief and have made me feel grateful for each day and immensely grateful for all my friends. Just glad to be alive,” he said.

Neill, who will participate in the television adaptation of Apples Never Fall (by Liane Moriarty, author of Big Little Lies y Nine Perfect Strangers), assures that his memoirs have been a true therapy for him: “I never had the intention of writing a book, but as I continued and continued writing, I realized that I was actually giving myself a reason to live and I was leaving I went to bed thinking, ‘I’ll write about it tomorrow. That’ll entertain me.’ And it really was a lifesaver, because I couldn’t have gone through it with nothing to do.”
