Sainz shows his teeth in Sao Paulo and Alonso runs out of sprint for Ocon

The man from Madrid was second but will start seventh due to the engine change and the Asturian suffered a bad pass from his partner

Russell and Hamilton’s Mercedes, first and third; with Verstappen, fourth

MADRID, 12 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) achieved second place in the sprint this Saturday at the Brazilian Grand Prix, ahead of a grid on Sunday in which he drags a five-position penalty for an engine change, behind the English George Russell (Mercedes), while the also Spanish Fernando Alonso (Alpine) suffered the bad past of Esteban Ocon.

Sainz, who started fifth, had to give everything to try to minimize that sanction and seek victory in the penultimate round of the World Cup. The man from Madrid put up with an open fight, just 24 laps away, in which the world champion, Max Verstappen (Red Bull), made a mistake, being the only one on top with a medium tire.

The start was clean except for Alonso, who was expelled from the line at turn four by his teammate Ocon. The Frenchman finished him off on the straight and the Spanish, without a front wing, had to enter the pits and was knocked out. All in all, the double world champion ended up passing the other Alpine.
