The Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) was frustrated by his abandonment this Sunday at the United States Grand Prix, after George Russell (Mercdes) ran him over “like crazy”, a “summary” of a year where things don’t work out.
“We have started regularly or Max has come out very well, because I have not lost much with the Mercedes either. We had already seen it before starting the race, that in the last six or seven years, for some unknown reason, the second always comes out better than the first one here, and then I’ve been battling with Max and Russell came in like crazy and hit me,” he told Dazn.
The man from Madrid started from pole and aspired to victory in a Circuit of the Americas that he is good at. However, in the first corner of the appointment in Austin he was left out. “There is little you can do against that, really. I think it sums up the year a bit, things are not working out, especially on Sundays. You have to turn the page and keep trying,” he added, after his sixth retirement this season and the second in a row after Suzuka seven days ago.
“We have to focus on Mexico, there is no other option but to keep trying to take small steps forward with the car, as I am doing, and there will come a time when so many things stop happening to us,” he concluded.
