Sadio Mané signs for Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr

MADRID, 1 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Senegalese striker Sadio Mané officially became a new Al Nassr player on Tuesday in the Saudi Arabian league, where he will share a dressing room with the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, as confirmed by both Bayern Munich and his new club, which did not give details of his new contract.

In this way, the African also sets course for Saudi Arabia after a discreet season in the Munich team, to which he arrived as a great signing after his great stage in English Liverpool, but in which he did not finish shining. Mané played 38 official matches for Bayern, scoring 12 goals and winning the Bundesliga and the German Super Cup.

The 31-year-old striker arrived in Munich to try to fill the gap left by Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, transferred to FC Barcelona, but he was unable to make him forget. An injury left him unable to play in the World Cup in Qatar and he was losing his place in the team, where he also experienced an altercation in the dressing room with Leroy Sané after the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester English city.

“We want to thank Sadio Mané for last season. It has certainly not been an easy year for him as he suffered an injury just before the World Cup and missed out on Senegal. Due to the long downtime, he couldn’t contribute as much to Bayern as we and he himself expected. That’s why we decided together that he should start a new chapter in his career and start anew at another club. We wish him all the best and all the success for the upcoming challenges in Al Nassr,” said Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of the Bundesliga champion, on the club’s website.

Sané himself had already said goodbye to the German team this Monday. “It hurts me to say goodbye to FC Bayern, I would have liked a different ending. I know I could have helped this team this season, I wanted to show it to everyone this season. I wish the club and the fans all the best for the future,” he told the German channel ‘Sky TV’.
