Sabrina, the Italian singer who rose to fame for ‘Boys, boys, boys’, announces that she has breast cancer

An image from the Ca’ Foncello hospital in Treviso, Italy, accompanied the artist’s announcement: “Here we go. I’m going into surgery in a few hours for breast surgery on a malignant lump. Like every year, in July, I had a mammogram,” revealed Sabrina Salerno from her room at the medical centre.

Sabrina, 56, has stressed the importance of routine check-ups. “Prevention and early diagnosis can save our lives,” she stressed. “Like every year, in July, I had a mammogram” in a few complicated months for her, who has lived with “fear, anxiety, melancholy, but above all with a lot of hope and desire to react.” A message that she has launched on her Instagram account at one of the most complicated moments of her life after receiving the diagnosis of breast cancer.

The artist rose to fame for her song Boys, boys, boysa hit that broke the dance floors of the clubs of the time and swept the board with an unforgettable performance. In the New Year’s Eve special of 1987, in the middle of a television performance, Sabrina left one of her breasts on display while dancing to her song.
