Sabalenka catches first win of 2021 Wimbledon

Aryna Sabalenka had the honor of adding the first victory of the 134th edition of Wimbledon this Monday. The delay in the start of the matches on the outer courts, due to the rain, caused the Belarusian against Monica nicolescu was the first to start on the opening day. Sabalenka, seeded number two after the resignation due to injury of Simona Halep and the voluntary discharge of Naomi Osaka, he won comfortably 6-1 and 6-4 in 76 minutes.

The powerful Minsk-born player had already beaten Nicolescu once and gave her no options on the immaculate grass of court 1, especially in an overwhelming first set for his rival who was about to solve with a donut. Saving him gave wings to Nicolescu, who could at least compete in the second round and even break Sabalenka's serve twice, who answered him with three breaks. In the second round she will face the British Katie Boulter.

Kvitova, two-time champion, eliminated

The first favorite to bite the dust this year at the All England Lawn Tennis Club is Petra Kvitova. The Czech, champion in 2011 and 2014, had perhaps the most poisoned premiere of the female team before Sloane stephens, winner of the US Open 2017 who is now a bone in the draws for the seeds due to her low ranking (73rd). The 28-year-old American won by 6-3 and 6-4 in 77 minutes, with just 14 failures. Kvitova blew four break balls and called it. Three years ago, in 2018, he also went home at the first exchange rate. Stephens will meet the American Ahn.

Kenin and Swiatek pass without hurry

Sofia Kenin, fourth seed, beat the 19-year-old Chinese and 144th in the world with solvency (6-4 and 6-2 in 63 minutes) and goes to the second round of Wimbledon for the third time, his cap so far (this is his third participation). With 19 winners and 17 unforced errors, the American, the 2020 Australian Open champion, dominated the situation and will face a compatriot, McHale or Brengle. Neither suffered Iga Swiatek, who easily got rid of the complicated Taiwanese Su-Ewi Hsieh, two-time doubles champion at Wimbledon (double 6-4 at 1:16). The Pole, who won the junior tournament in 2018, had already beaten her rival last year when she lifted the title at Roland Garros. It will intersect with Bouzkova or Zvonareva. The kzaja Rybakina (18th) passed with a comfortable victory against the French Kristina Mladenovic (6-4 and 6-0) and awaits an Asian opponent: Doi or Liu.
