Rummenige: “Each game without an audience costs Bayern € 4m; we have played 17, do the math”

Karl-Heinz Rummenige gave an interview to the Italian public radio RAI and acknowledged that Bayern is suffering significant losses due to the pandemic. The executive president of the Bavarian club had no qualms about revealing the important figure that his club is supposed to play without an audience: “Each game without fans costs us about four million euros. We've already played 17 behind closed doors, it's a matter of doing the math ”. Well, according to these accounts, Bayern's losses due to the absence of income generated by matches with the public are already close to 70 million euros.

In the interview for the RAI, Rummenigge also predicted that the clubs will have to settle their accounts and cut their expenses. These measures will also affect footballers, who will see their salaries suffer a considerable reduction: “Things are already changing. Companies can no longer spend as before due to the damages that the pandemic brought and now I assure you that wages will also fall. Something that will be normal, since we are talking about very high amounts ”.
