Round and felt, Austria creates a stamp in honor of Thiem

Austria Post paid tribute to tennis player Dominic Thiem, current number 9 in the ATP ranking, with the launch of a postage stamp, which is not only round and features your face and signature printed on it, but is made for the first time with the same felt used in tennis balls. Coinciding with the celebration of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, the general director of the Austrian Post Office, Georg Pölzl, gave Thiem the first copy of this peculiar stamp this morning, the company reported in a statement.

“Me I am delighted that we are dedicating this innovative special tennis ball felt stamp to such a successful national athlete. “, said Pölz at the presentation ceremony. “The stamps are something special for many people, so I hope to bring joy to many people with my personal stamp,” said the 28-year-old tennis player.

Thiem, who has been off the slopes since the middle of the year due to an injury to a tendon in his right wrist, he hopes to return to training soon to participate in the Australian Open next January. The Davis Cup will not play it. The Dominic Thiem stamp, which has been released with an edition of 150,000 copies, can be purchased from today in all Austrian post offices at a price of 7 euros.
