‘Roro’ Riquelme: “We can’t relax against the bottom team”

They avoid talking about the final, but the match against Alcorcón could mark a before and after in the wild boar team. The Mirandés want to open even more gap in relation to the relegation places, although for this they will have to overcome the potters in Santo Domingo. “They are down, but we give them the importance of any game. Another one to be able to add the three points that we also need. New players have arrived who have reinforced them, but we must be up to the task and go out to win”, points out ‘Roro’ Riquelme.

The player from Madrid warns that the match will not be a mere formality for Mirandés which also needs all three points in play: “In the first round they also came here as bottom players and in the end they got a positive result. We can’t relax. We have to go out and win and fight for victory with our weapons.”

Without cup competition in between, Lolo Escobar’s pupils have thoroughly prepared the meeting trying to correct mistakes of the past, which remain uncorrected. “The team is fine. We have come from the break with a better mentality. I am sure that the results will come in the second round. Defensive work is everyone’s business. We have to put on the work vest and keep pushing”, underlines.

On a personal note, ‘Roro’ Riquelme is in good form. The footballer on loan from Atlético de Madrid is currently the top assistant in the category; although he continues to keep his feet on the ground: “I’m putting in good performances, but I work individually to achieve that regularity and not drop the level in each game. I’m helping the team in some way, but I don’t give it more importance than it It has. I had to play in the center of the field due to virus circumstances. Wherever the coach puts me, I try to help”.
