Ronaldo sets his sights on Hierro

Ronaldo Nazario continues working to improve the structure of Valladolid. “We are a first division team, but we do not have the infrastructure that we think we need”, confessed the maximum shareholder of the Pucelano club to the magazine Sports Illustrated a few weeks ago. Well, one of the plots that it seeks to promote is sports. According to various sources informed As, the former Real Madrid forward is considering the option of signing Fernando Hierro to occupy the club's sports management if Miguel Ángel Gómez does not continue next season. The head of the sports field has one more year of contract left, but its continuity seems very complicated if the team does not achieve permanence. This would put an end to his stage at the club after four seasons, in which he would have achieved a promotion and two stays. Two years ago, the hypothesis that Fernando Hierro signed for Valladolid already sounded in several football lies, but then it did not come to fruition.

Fernando Hierro, who currently resides in Malaga, is a Valladolid legend. Not surprisingly, he made his debut in the First Division with the Pucelano club in the 1987 season, in a match against Deportivo. There he began a spectacular career that led him to sign for Madrid two seasons later and establish himself as one of the most important footballers in the history of Spanish football.

The most recent professional experience of the malagueño is the position of national coach during the 2018 World Cup, when he had to substitute “in extremis” for Julen Lopetegui after being fired when the tournament was about to start. Previously, he held the position of sports director of the Royal Spanish Football Federation in two stages. The first, 2007 to 2011, coinciding with the achievement of the World Cup in South Africa and the European Championship in Austria and Switzerland, while the second stage at the helm of the RFEF sports field took place from 2017 to 2018. He also held the position of general manager of Málaga in the 2011-12 season, Coached Oviedo in the 2016-17 campaign and served as Carlo Ancelotti's assistant between 2014 and 2015.
