Ron Rivera: We’re still working through who will start at QB this weekWe’re still deciding who will start this week at quarterback.

This season, the Commanders are playing it safe, but this week, the team might switch quarterbacks.

“He’s probably tired from playing in so many games and taking so many hits, in addition to the duration of the season.”

The club is still working though some issues at quarterback, according to head coach Ron Rivera, who informed reporters on Tuesday. He will let the players know who will be starting on Wednesday.

In the past two games, Jacoby Brissett have benched Sam Howell, guiding the offense towards greater success.

However, Rivera stated that Howell’s recent performance hasn’t altered his opinion of the quarterback’s future.

“No, it doesn’t. Additionally, Rivera has a very strong body of work, according to Nicki Jhabvala for the Washington Post. “The past few weeks have not been easy.

In Week 15, against the Rams, Howell completed 11 of 26 passes for 102 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

Then, against the Jets on Sunday, he went 6-of-22 for 56 yards and two interceptions. This season, Howell has already taken the most sacks in the league (60).

In the Rams game, Brissett completed 8 of 10 throws for 124 yards and two touchdowns; in the New York game, he finished 10 of 13 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.

In Sunday’s 30-28 loss of the New York Jets, Washington Commanders executive coach Ron Rivera benched fourth-year quarterback Sam Howell for the second straight week.

In the defeat on Sunday, Howell only completed six of his 22 passes for 56 yards and two interceptions.

To be honest, Howell didn’t have much support from his teammates. One interception came from a pass that was dropped, and the second one happened when his receiver stumbled while traveling.

However, it would be foolish to claim that Howell had no influence upon Washington’s offensive difficulties.

He no longer resembles the player he was throughout the first ten weeks of the season. He had some bad performances during that time, but he also had an amazing capacity to recover.

That feels like a very long time ago. While praising Howell last week, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy believed that he was pressing, and Rivera concurred on Sunday.

“It was difficult, as you can imagine,” remarked Rivera. We didn’t assist him right away; after dropping a few balls which we probably ought to have caught, that’s difficult.

Your confidence can occasionally be undermined, and that’s what I began to experience in the second half. I became rather worried about it, which is why I decided to take the action that I did.

Howell’s situation was exacerbated by Jacoby Brissett’s play in relief. Last week, the seasoned quarterback took Howell’s place and guided the Commanders on two touchdown drives.

On Sunday, Brissett took the court early in the third quarter and scored 21 points in a row for Washington, giving the Commanders a late-fourth-quarter lead of 28-27.

According to the team’s official transcript, “I have to sit down and really examine it and make sure he’s doing everything that we need him to do with both offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and quarterback coach Tavita Pittard.” Rivera stated.

And he had an excellent day yesterday. After having to view the tape, we’re pretty happy with it. We’ll see how it works out when we can watch the tape together.

Since we’re traveling today, we’ll discuss Sam and simply assess that, along with Jacoby (Brissett), when we get together the following day.

We feel really good about the quarterback situation right now, especially after Jacoby did some really excellent things.
