Roland Garros | Djokovic wins after blowing an ironic kiss to a spectator

Novak Djokovic continues unstoppable in this strange 2020. In his debut at Roland Garros he beat Mikael Ymer (6-0, 6-2 and 6-3) without any problem. In fact, the only enemy who has hurt him so far is himself. He has 32 victories and only one loss so far this year, the one he inflicted on himself at the US Open, when he was disqualified in his match against Pablo Carreño for hitting an involuntary but reckless pitch to a linesman. Then in Rome he had a couple of bad-tempered episodes, one when he threw down his racket after losing a point in the second set to Germany's Koepfer. and the other in the final against Schwartzman when he argued with the chair umpire because he considered that it was not possible to continue playing in the rain.

And this Monday he faced a spectator who, perhaps with excessive passion, encouraged the 22-year-old Swede and 80th in the world. The Serbian lost a point in the seventh game of the second set and gave him one of those looks that kill the fan who had just screamed. Then he beat the rest of the game and when he went to his chair he blew him a kiss. It is not the first time that he has faced the public. He did it, for example, at the US Open in 2019. Anyway, a nonsense that did not spoil his clear victory.

The fact is that Djokovic played well, maybe he could get something better and have prevented Ymer from breaking his serve twice in his only two opportunities. and regarding the balance between winners (32) and unforced errors (22), it was remarkable. In fact, he won many more points than his weak rival (84-46). Little history had the party waiting for bigger and more difficult companies. For now, in the second round he will meet the Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis (30 years and 66º), whom he has never faced.

Berrettini and Lajovic advance

Two of the tournament's seeds of the tournament won this Monday with solvency to get into the second round. Italian Matteo Berrettini (7th) beat Canadian Vasek Pospisil (6-3, 6-1 and 6-3) with only 18 unforced errors and will now face the South African Harris. And the Serbian Dusan Lajovic beat the Italian Mager 6-4, 7-6 (4), 4-6 and 6-1 to meet the South African Kevin Anderson, who is trying to rise from the ashes and beat another Serbian, Djere, 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4. Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili did not take advantage of his status as a favorite and fell against Monteiro 7-5, 6-4 and 6-2. The Brazilian goes to the second round of a Grand Slam for the third time, second at Roland Garros. The Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov had a convincing debut against the French Barrere, with a 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2 victory. He will run into the Slovak Martin.

Results and schedule.
