Roglic wins again in Samoëns and wins the Critérium du Dauphiné

MADRID, 8 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Slovenian cyclist Primoz Roglic (BORA-hansgrohe) won this Saturday the seventh and penultimate stage of the 76th edition of the Critérium du Dauphiné, 155.3 kilometers of high mountains between Albertville and the Samoëns 1600 ski resort, and has strengthened his leadership before facing the final day.

With this victory, the second in a row after the one achieved on Friday, Roglic puts an end to the French round. Now, he has a 1:02 advantage over the American Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) and 1:13 over the Canadian Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech), while Carlos Rodríguez (INEOS Grenadiers) is the best Spaniard positioned, 1:58 behind the leader.

In the queen stage of the race, after an initial escape made up of men like the Italian Davide Formolo (Movistar) or the Frenchman Warren Barguil (dsm-firmenich PostNL), the Spanish Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) managed to leave alone in the penultimate climb of the day, enjoying five minutes of advantage over the group of favorites, with Roglic and the BORA among its components.

The Catalan was caught by the pursuers just two kilometers from the finish line, and runners like the Spanish Carlos Rodríguez (INEOS Grenadiers) and Mikel Landa (Soudal-Quick Step) – who finished eight and 33 seconds behind the winner – ended up giving up .

The Colombian Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain-Victorious) and the also Spanish Oier Lazkano (Movistar) tried to escape, but the final blow was dealt by Roglic, who finally won ahead of Jorgenson and the Italian Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek). Lazkano was fourth, two seconds behind the Slovenian.

The runners will face this Sunday the last stage of the round in the French Alps, in which they will travel 160.6 kilometers of high mountains between Thônes and Plateau des Glières, where the winner of the 76th edition of the race will be known.
