Roglic certifies his final victory in the Tirreno-Adriatico

MADRID, 12 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Slovenian cyclist Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) won the 58th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico this Sunday after maintaining his lead in the seventh and final stage, starting and finishing in San Benedetto del Tronto over 154 kilometers and in the won by the Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

After winning the three previous stages, Roglic had no problem defending his lead of 18 seconds overall over the Portuguese Joao Almeida (UAE Emirates) and 23 over the British Tao Geoghegan Hart (INEOS Grenadiers), all in a day resolved to the sprint.

The peloton dedicated itself throughout the stage, thanks to the efforts of Alpecin-Deceuninck and Jayco-AlUla, to control the breakaway of the day, which ended up neutralized with four kilometers to go. Philipsen, helped by a Mathieu van der Poel who made the perfect launch, claimed the last partial victory.

The Dutch Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco-AlUla) and the Italian Alberto Dainese (DSM) completed the last podium of a race that allows Roglic to succeed his compatriot Tadej Pogacar in the list of winners of the ‘Race of the two seas’ and position himself as one of the favorites to win the Giro d’Italia.
