Roger Mayweather, a former super featherweight and super light world champion and coach of his celebrated nephew Floyd Mayweather junior, died today at the age of 58.

The news was supplied by Floyd Mayweather's own team to TMZ, an American website dedicated to reporting on celebrities.

Roger Mayweather was considered several years as the best coach in the world and as a boxer he is remembered for his battles against figures such as Julio César Chávez (two), Pernell Whitaker, Vinnie Pazienza and Kostya Tszyu.

Throughout his 18 seasons as a rented boxer, he made 72 fights, with 59 wins (35 ko) and 13 losses.

The causes of the death of the nicknamed "Mamba Negra" were not disclosed, but his state of health due to Diabetes had forced him to quit his coaching activity since 2017.

Floyd Mayweather received this sad news in the midst of a hard personal moment for the death of his former partner. On the last March 10, the North American portal TMZ Sports, reported about the strange death of Josie Harris, a 40-year-old woman who was a partner of Floyd Mayweather between 1995 and 2010, until finally she reported him for domestic violence after an event that occurred in September of that year.

The American, with whom he had three children, she appeared dead in the garage of her house in the neighborhood of Valencia, California around 9:30 pm: "One of her children noticed that Josie was not responding in the vehicle and made the call to 911. Life-saving measures were taken, including an attempt at CPR, but it was too late," reported the local media.

After a couple of days of absolute silence, the legendary boxer came out to express his pain through social networks, where he published 13 photos with a meaningful message in each of them. "My angel", "My heart", "My love", "My family", "My friend", "My better half" and "My baby", were some of the messages that Money left in the different publications that he made on his Instagram account.
