Rodrigo Ely arrives at Almeria

The Italian-Brazilian central Rodrigo Elywho had been free since last January after passing through the Nottingham Forest English, will strengthen the UD Almeria for the remainder of the season, with the option of two more, after passing the medical tests and training this Monday under the orders of Joan Francesc Ferrer ‘Ruby‘.

Rodrigo Ely (Lajeado, Brazil, November 3, 1993), 1.88 tall, is an experienced soccer player who, according to the statement offered this Monday by the Almeriaresponds with “forcefulness in defensive tasks”.

He has a past in Spanish football, since for four and a half seasons he played for Deportivo Alavés and played 85 games, including a Copa del Rey final, in addition to scoring five goals.

His incorporation was necessary as a result of casualties that mainly affect the defense of the Andalusian team, since Chumi underwent surgery for a broken fifth metatarsal in his left foot and will be out for about three months; and the Portuguese Daniel Carriço suffered a muscular problem that will prevent him from being there for four weeks.

In addition, Babic did not train this Monday due to discomfort following a crash suffered last Friday at La Romareda in the match played against Real Zaragoza, where the other center-back of the squad, Iván Martos, was also injured, pending a medical examination.

Faced with this ‘plague’, UD Almería began to sound out the market, reaching an agreement with Rodrigo Ely, who terminated his contract at Nottingham Forest last January, the club with which he signed at the beginning of the current year.

Born in Brazil, from a very young age he belonged to AC Milan, who had him on loan in Italian Serie B teams such as Reggina or Avellino, until his return in the 2015/16 campaign.

Rodrigo Eli arrived in Almería this past weekend to close the details of his contract and pass the corresponding medical examination.

The right-handed centre-back, who can also play on the left, is, according to the Almería report, “forceful in his actions, powerful in the air and has a good ball output. He also contributes in attack in strategy plays”.
