Rocket Rumors: Green, Bridges, and the Trade Market

Reports from Jake Fischer in Yahoo Sports or Marc Stein during Substack say that executives in the NBA think the Rockets would be willing to trade former No. 2 pick Jalen Green for a big-name wing player.

Both reporters say that the Rockets want to get Mikal Bridges. Stein says that there is a rumor around the sport that Houston is willing to trade Green and “an array of first-round picks” for the Nets forward.

According to sources in the league, when the Rockets interviewed potential head coaches last spring, their bodies asked them which of the team’s younger players they thought the front office should think about trading for a star.

The young people in Houston are Green, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith, Tari Eason, Amen Thompson, or Cam Whitmore. Fischer says that those talks didn’t go anywhere because Brooklyn is still refusing to talk about Bridges.

Head coach Udoka, also known as Ime, may have seen Green as a possible trade chip, but Fischer’s report doesn’t say that. However, Green’s name has been linked to trade rumors more than any other young Rocket lately.

Thursday is the NBA trade deadline, and the Brooklyn Nets are going to doing what they can to get a deal done before then.

More information is coming out about how badly the Houston Rockets wants one of Brooklyn’s players because the deadline is coming up.

It has been reported previously that the Nets don’t want to trade Bridges right now, but it’s still interesting to see what amount Houston paid for him.

This news also shows that the NBA values an individual like Mikal Bridges, both for what he can do on the court and for who he is as a person.

There are also rumors that the Memphis Grizzlies offered four first-round picks at the end of last season to get Bridges.

At age 27, Bridges scores 21.9 points, grabs 5.0 rebounds, and hands out 3.7 assists per game. He also shoots 45.5% from the field as well as 37.1% from three-point range.

At this point, Brooklyn has rendered it very clear to other clubs that they want Bridges to stay with the team because they see him as an important part of their future.

Little ahead Mikal Bridges was acquired from the Phoenix Suns to the Brooklyn Nets a little over a year ago.

He was part of a huge trade that brought Kevin Durant to the Valley. The decision was made out of emotion by everyone, but Bridges might have to leave again.

There is a trade deadline coming up on February 8 for the NBA, and a former first-round pick has a popular target. Bridges is reportedly getting very good trade offers to try to get Brooklyn to move.

League sources told Yahoo Sports that rival front offices were buzzing about the Rockets’ willingness to trade ex No. 2 pick Jalen Green for Bridges and other big-name wings, but talks with Brooklyn never went anywhere, sources said.

But the trade for Adams makes it clear that Houston is more patient than they said they would be when it comes to getting into the play-in tournament, if not the playoffs.

Keep in mind that the Rockets sent two second-round picks and Kevin Porter Jr.’s salary in October to get Oladipo’s contract.

That means it took five seconds to get Adams, and Houston is only 11th in the West right now.
