Roberto Soldado puts an “end to 21 years of career”

MADRID, 3 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish forward Roberto Soldado announced this Thursday the “end to 21 years of career” with a farewell message on social networks, a long career in football in which he was international with Spain and went through Real Madrid, Osasuna, Getafe, Valencia, Tottenham Hotspur, Villarreal, Fenerbahçe, Granada and Levante.

“Today I put an end to 21 years of career, and with that I put an end to a dream that I never thought would come true, much less that it would last so long,” said the player himself in a video that he posted on social networks, with some of his goals.

Soldado, 38 years old and trained in the Real Madrid youth academy, played the last two seasons at Levante, where he came from Granada. The Valencian striker left Madrid in 2008, the year in which he was league champion, spending a year earlier on loan at Osasuna, heading to Getafe, where he demonstrated his great scoring ability to sign for Valencia.

In the ‘che’ team he even increased his figures, which drew the attention of the European clubs. Tottenham took over his services but failed to get his full potential in the Premier. Soldado later went through Villarreal, Turkish Fenerbahçe and Granada, leaving his competitive stamp in every minute he played.

“Thanks to colleagues, friends, family, coaches and fans who have accompanied me on this journey, forever”, Soldado ends in his video, with some of the most beautiful and decisive goals of his career, with all his teams, being the best national scorer in 2006 (in Second Division) and in 2012.

On the other hand, the Valencian striker was international with the lower categories of the team, champion of Europe Under-19, until debuting with the absolute with Luis Aragonés in 2007. Almost five years later, Vicente del Bosque had him again, although He did not play any major tournament, scoring the goal (2-1) of the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup against Brazil where Spain was runner-up.
