Roberto Martínez, Emery and Gerrard, Newcastle targets

Newcastle’s first defeat in the new era has triggered doubts that were already feared at the club: Everything points to Steve Bruce not being the club’s manager in the long run. Although the Englishman was expected to be sacked before the debut against Tottenham, he eventually held his position and greeted the new owners with a 2-3 against at St. James’ Park.

According to The Times, Newcastle are already working on three options to sign as a new manager. The names are internationally recognized: Roberto Martínez, Unai Emery and Steven Gerrard.

Although it will be difficult to convince any of the three, the managers of the magpies want to hit the table. Gerrard, for example, has commented on the matter that “it is interesting what is happening in the Newcastle”. The case of Roberto Martínez is remarkable, as reported by The Times, since he ends his contract in the summer and has already worked with Graeme Jones in the past in his stages in Wigan, Everton or Belgium and that he is currently the assistant coach of Newcastle.

What they already know in the club is what it will cost fire Steve Bruce: nine and a half million euros. The 60-year-old made his 1,000th game on the bench this weekend but has yet to win this season, with the club in second-to-last position.
