Roberto Bautista runs out of title in Adelaide

MADRID, 14 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista was unable to win the Adelaide 2 (Australia) tournament title, in the ATP 250 category and played on hard court, after losing this Saturday in the final against the South Korean Soonwoo Kwon (6-4, 3 -6, 7-6 (4)), which frustrated the first trophy of the year for Spanish tennis.

The man from Castellón, number 26 in the world, was able to recover from an adverse first set, in which the Asian tennis player, number 84 in the ATP ranking, surprised him in the first game of the clash to achieve a break that would be enough for him to win the partial .

However, Bautista hit back in the second set, where he capitalized in the second game on the only break chance he had in the set to even the contest, which went on longer than expected.

The Spanish tennis player took the lead twice in the final set, and twice Kwon neutralized his advantage to lead the match to a dramatic ‘tie-break’. The South Korean reigned in sudden death to win his second ATP title after two hours and 44 minutes of fighting.

In this way, Bautista was left without raising the first wound of the year for Spanish tennis; Rebeka Masarova was also about to inaugurate the 2023 palmares for the ‘Armada’ last Saturday, but she fell in the final of the Auckland (New Zealand) tournament against the American Coco Gauff (6-1, 6-1).
