Rob Gronkowski, four-time Super Bowl champion, announces his retirement for the second time

Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Rob Gronkowski announced his second retirement from the NFL on Tuesday through a message on his social networks, where he explained that he wants to get away from American football, something he will do with his head held high for having given everything “when went out into a field.

After retiring in 2019 after a golden stage in the New England Patriots, Gronkowski resumed activity to sign for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with whom he won the 2020 Super Bowl. This Tuesday, the 33-year-old New York player announced his goodbye in your Instagram account.

“I want to thank the entire Buccaneers organization for an incredible journey, trusting me to play again and help build a championship team,” he wrote. “Now I will return to my retirement home, I will walk away from football again with my head held high knowing that I gave everything I had, good or bad, every time I took the field,” Gronkowski added.

A four-time Super Bowl champion, the 33-year-old former player suffered too many injuries in his career. “The friendships and relationships I’ve made will last forever, and I also thank each of my teammates and coaches for giving everything they had,” he added.

Gronkowski retires as one of the most decorated players at his position in NFL history. He ranks third among wings with 92 career touchdown receptions, while his 9,286 receiving yards ranks fifth.
