Riots in Anoeta before Real-Atlético de Madrid

A group of Real Sociedad fans has thrown objects at the Atlético de Madrid bus and an Ertzaintza vehicle upon arrival at the Anoeta stadium, where some altercations have occurred, the Basque Department of Security has reported.

The Atlético bus, which is playing in San Sebastián for the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey, has been greeted with the throwing of objects, insults and hostile chants by dozens of Real Sociedad fans.

The thrown objects have caused material damage to the Atlético coach, which had at least one broken window, according to what eyewitnesses have told the EFE Agency.

In addition, an Ertzaintza vehicle that was part of the escort device for the Atlético bus has also been attacked, after which the agents have carried out some charges with riot gear.

On the other hand, a person has been injured in the course of altercations recorded in the vicinity of Anoeta, although in another place.

As reported by the Basque Department of Security, a person who was in the Isabel II area has been transferred to a health center with a gash in the head, presumably the result of an attack.
