MADRID, 5 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cleveland Cavaliers player Ricky Rubio assured that he wants to return to the courts after his long knee injury but indicated that he has two or three years left at most to play in the NBA, since he wants to return in the near future to his house, to Badalona.
“In the NBA, to be honest, I don’t have much left. When my son starts school, I would like to be settled in my house in Badalona. I would say I have two or three years left,” he said in the new episode of ‘El Reverso’ podcast with Gonzalo Vázquez and Andrés Monje.
However, while his journey in the NBA lasts, he considered that his home is Cleveland. “I think I’ve found my place in Cleveland, I’m comfortable and I want to get to the top with this project. I dream of living the experience of playing in the Finals,” he opened up.
“This injury has been a roller coaster, with many emotions on my mind, from desire, excitement, fear, intrigue,” he commented on his knee injury. “But the one that stands out the most is the illusion,” he added about the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, suffered in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans eleven months ago. Injury that he already suffered in 2012.
Thus, in that emotional roller coaster, one of his supports was his wife. “I remember one day, when I arrived in El Masnou two weeks after surgery, I was on crutches and I didn’t know how to go down the stairs of my house. It was 5 in the morning, with jet lag, and I started to cry,” acknowledged.
“Then my wife hugged me and that was enough, I knew it was going to be hard but that I was going to have her by my side. And that has helped me a lot in hard times,” he explained.
On the other hand, the man from El Masnou assured that over the years he has realized the importance of the figure of the coach. “When you start playing you think that the coach is not that important. Looking back on my career, in the end the player is only as good as the confidence the coach has in him,” he said.
