Report: Next week, the Cowboys will talk to Ron Rivera.
After one season, he fired Mike Nolan and hired Dan Quinn. On Thursday, Quinn quit to become your head coach for the Commanders.
The Dallas Morning News’ David Moore says the Cowboys will likely interview Ron Rivera over the job next week. This confirms what was anticipated if Quinn quits.
In four years as head coach, Rivera led the Commanders to a 26-40-1 record. The team fired him. Rivera interviewed with the Rams to be their defensive coordinator, and the Eagles were known to be interested in him before they hired Vic Fangio.
Rivera, who is 62 years old, was head coach for the Panthers for nine years before moving to Washington.
He hasn’t been a defensive coordinator for the Chargers since 2010, but he did that job for the Commanders in the last few weeks before the 2023 season after Jack Del Rio was fired.
The Cowboys could also look at Mike Vrabel, Brandon Staley, Wink Martindale, and Mike Zimmer, all of whom are not currently with the team, as possible replacements for Quinn.
The Defense Coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys was just hired as the new head coach of the Washington Commanders.
Because of this, the Dallas Cowboys might want to hire the last head coach of the Washington Commanders as their subsequent defensive assistant.
Ron Rivera is the current head coach of the Washington Commanders. He used to be the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, and David Moore of the Dallas Morning News says that Rivera is scheduled to interview the Dallas Cowboys. It is said that the meeting will happen next week.
Rivera was in charge of Carolina for almost nine full seasons. He won three NFC South titles, an NFC championship, two NFL Head Coach of the Year awards, and 76 regular-season games, which is the most in Panthers history.
After that, he went to the nation’s capital starting in 2020. Rivera was fired by the Captains on January 8 after four seasons with Washington, where he went 26-40-1.
Because the Washington Commanders had a 4-13 season this year and a new ownership group, they fired Ron Rivera, who had been their athletic director for four years.
And they hired Dan Quinn as their new head coach. For the last few years, Quinn had been the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys. Now, Dallas is looking for someone to fill that position.
There are times when Dallas Cowboys fans get mad at their coaches. The Cowboys’ defense, which had been great against weaker teams, let down in the biggest game of the season, a 48–32 loss against the Green Bay Packers within the Wild Card Round.
The team that coached defense under Dan Quinn lost both physically and in terms of how they were set up. That had been enough for the fans of Dallas to give up on the coaching staff.
The league wouldn’t be as moved. Quinn had interviews to be a head coach, but in the end, he chose to take the job in the Washington Commanders instead. He will play against the Cowboys twice a season and meet their new defensive coordinator.
It might not be easy to find Quinn’s replacement in Dallas. Mike McCarthy is thought to be nearing the end of his time as head coach, and Quinn may bring some of the current staff with him to replace Landover.
Now, our Mike Fisher possesses the news that the Cowboys want to “visit” with Ron Rivera. There is Mike Vrabel in this conversation. Also, you can have fun with Bill Belichick being “all in.”
