Real Madrid wins its twelfth Super Cup

The Real Madrid defeated in the final of the Spanish Super Cup Athletic Club at the King Fahd International Stadium, with goals from Luka Modric y Karim Benzema, this one from a penalty, in a match that ended in numerical inferiority due to the expulsion of Military by committing a maximum penalty that stopped Thibaut Courtois.

The team of Carlo Ancelotti defeated Athletic Club for the third time this season, showing superiority in a final that was unbalanced in the 38th minute with a right hand from Luka Modric with a thread from the edge of the box. He rewarded the search for the Madrid goal, which at 52 minutes increased his tally with a penalty scored by Benzema.

Real Madrid extended their good time and dominance of LaLiga Santander to win the first title of the season for which they are opting, their twelfth Spanish Super Cup, to place themselves one behind Barcelona.

The Athletic Club, who relinquished the crown, sought to resurrect the match until the end, but Raúl García missed a penalty to have returned the emotion in the final minutes.
