Real Madrid tunes up on time in Fontes do Sar and Unicaja remains in a trance

MADRID, 16 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid beat Monbus Obradoiro (74-85) this Saturday on matchday 14 of the Endesa League with a good second half, while Unicaja, two wins behind the leader, signed its tenth straight victory by overcoming (92-70 ) to Coviran Granada.

Chus Mateo's team had a good hold on the Galicians during the first half in Fontes do Sar. The Madrid team did not control the rebound well, they allowed losses in the good home defense and they did not score from three-point range. However, everything changed after the break, for a Madrid that will be seeded in the Copa del Rey.

A 14-23 scoreboard painted white in the third quarter and, although 'Obra' fought in the last quarter, Madrid dominated the match to put the score at 13-1 at the top of the table. Tavares (13 points and 20 PIR), Hezonja (16 and 19) and Musa (17 and 16) were the best in Chus Mateo's team.

Meanwhile, Unicaja continues its basketball ecstasy with 10 consecutive wins in the League. Ibon Navarro's men, Real Madrid's top pursuer, defeated with authority (92-70) a Coviran Granada that remains stuck in the relegation zone.

Eight Málaga players scored double digits in a derby that remained at the Martín Carpena with work well underway in the first half (50-30). Unicaja's defense controlled the match, with Alberto Díaz as the flag, and did not lower the intensity in its choral rotation, a team very much on a roll.

On the other hand, Dreamland Gran Canaria signed the eighth of the season, defending its 'Top 8' to be in the Málaga cup event, after coming back (83-75) against Surne Bilbao Basket. The Canarian team signed a final quarter of 24-9 to unleash euphoria among its fans. Ferran Bassas (12 assists) led the game that Brussino, Pelos and Happ exploited.

Meanwhile, Lenovo Tenerife added a fundamental seventh victory to maintain the pace of the Copa del Rey zone. Txus Vidorreta's team defeated (73-76) a BAXI Manresa team that could not continue its victory over Barça although it remains on top. Giorgi Shermadini (27 rating) was by far the best of the Canaries, well accompanied by Joan Sastre and Marcelinho Huertas.
