Real Madrid sign a new head of security

Real Madrid have made a new signing in recent days. An incorporation for the security area, which for so many years has had Julio Cendal as head, who is now retiring. José Antonio Mellado, early retired lieutenant colonel of the Civil Guard who has extensive experience in this field, is the one who replaces him. Mellado has been for many years the head of the Department of International Cooperation of the Headquarters of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard.

The security area is one of the most delicate in Real Madrid, since for each trip of the first football team, but also of the others, special devices are proposed. In addition, he is also in charge of security for events at the Santiago Bernabéu and in the basketball hall.

On its website, Real Madrid defines the idea with which its security department works, which from now on, and with the New Bernabéu on the horizon: “Safety at sporting events is our highest priority. The stadium, with a capacity for 81,000 spectators, exceeds the most demanding requirements for holding sporting events of the highest level in complete safety. In terms of security, we have a group made up of at least 750 Guards, 450 Security Assistants and 138 Ushers, to which must be added the members of the National Police Corps, Municipal Police, Red Cross, Samur and Firefighters, who work on match days to guarantee security inside the Stadium, which represents a ratio of 1 for every 60 spectators ”.
