Real Madrid seeks to end Chelsea’s undefeated in the Women’s Champions League

MADRID, 22 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid Femenino faces English Chelsea this Wednesday (9:00 p.m.), on the third day of the Champions League group stage, in a key duel for the lead between the only two undefeated teams in Group A, and with the objective of bringing their classification closer to the quarterfinals.

The Madrid team arrives at the event with a record of 11 wins, two draws and one defeat in the 14 official matches played to date, including the win against Albanian Vllaznia (0-2) and the draw against French PSG (0-0). For this reason, Alberto Toril’s team will seek in London to maintain their good streak in Europe against one of the favourites.

“Chelsea are a great rival and have a great track record in the Champions League and in the League, but we are going to try to fight and do well with our weapons. We have good-level players and it will be a nice game to watch,” said the Andalusian coach. at a press conference.

Thus, the white coach was confident ahead of the European event, although he made it clear that he does not want any mistakes in the return to competition. “The team has a good feeling and faces the game with great spirits. After the national team break, we want to continue with a good dynamic. We came here wanting to play a good game and compete,” he said.

The Madrid team has the opportunity in London to bring their qualification closer to the quarterfinals, although for that they will have to come back with some prize from their visit to Kingsmeadow to recover the points they could not add at the Alfredo Di Stéfano against PSG, another candidate to be fourth. “This is a very short competition, we know how important the points are and it’s not just another game. We’re going to face it being mature,” said Toril.

Against the team led by Emma Hayes arrives in great shape and as one of the great favorites to fight for the title. The Londoners currently lead the group after beating Villaznia (8-0) and beating PSG (0-1) in Paris and they want to seal their pass to the next phase to avoid the setback of last season when they failed to pass to the quarterfinals after falling behind Wolfsburg and Juventus.

Although the English team will once again be able to count on an important piece in English midfielder Fran Kirby, the loss of Danish forward Pernille Harder, a star player for the ‘blues’, increases the chances of a white team that, except against FC Barcelona , has been very firm in defense, although he will have to watch another high-level striker like the Australian Sam Kerr, third in the Ballon d’Or voting.

Thus, the leaders of the WSL will have a little more difficult to add another victory to his almost immaculate record this season, after winning seven of the eight games he has played. In fact, since his defeat in the first league game against Liverpool he has not lost and has 19 goals for and only four against.
