Real Madrid says goodbye to the Women's Champions League with another defeat

0-1 for the meringues against a Häcken that went to the quarterfinals

MADRID, 30 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid lost 0-1 this Tuesday against BK Häcken, with a goal from Rosa Kafaji, in a match corresponding to the sixth and final day of the Women's Champions League in its group stage, closed by the meringues with their fifth defeat, and also consecutive.

The Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium witnessed another bad result for their side, who said goodbye with a bitter taste to the top continental competition. A single point in their locker to finish bottom of Group D, that is the ugly baggage of Real Madrid this season.

Despite the intention to finish their European path well this season, Alberto Toril's pupils experienced a first scare after 30 seconds. As soon as it was taken from the center, a long pass between the lines put Clarissa Larisey in front of the Madrid goalkeeper, sprinting.

Overwhelmed by a local defense, Häcken's Canadian forward missed her shot as goalkeeper Mylène Chavas touched the ball. The white team responded thanks to Olga Carmona, who shot after a good collective play, causing at least one corner.

After a quarter of an hour of play, Anna Anvegard had another clear scoring chance for the Swedish team, also behind the defense with an awkward shot. Real Madrid, who were struggling at the back to contain their rival's lack of firepower, responded in attack thanks to a filtered pass from Sandie Toletti to Hayley Raso.

It was then the 36th minute when the Australian winger unmarked herself behind the Häcken left wing, whom she then surpassed in her powerful sprint to finish with a shot from mid-height, which crashed into the side of the net from the outside.

Although it was a serious warning for the visitors, Mak Lind's pupils did not get nervous and reached the break without problems. They did have a chance of staying alive in this Champions League, pending all the time what would happen in the duel between Paris FC and Chelsea FC.

THE DECISIVE GOAL, FROM A STOCK BALL

And that momentum was noticeable to set the pace in Valdebebas, since Real Madrid barely generated danger on the goal defended by Jennifer Falk. In the 60th minute, a corner in favor of the meringues ended with a shot by Freja Siri from inside the area that was saved by the goalkeeper.

It was, paradoxically, the prelude to the only goal of the game. In a set piece action, Jóhanna Fossdalsá Sorensen received the ball with her back close to the merengue front line, turned to her right and passed into the space for Monica Jusu Bah to rush the baseline on the left wing, until making a cross that he overtook Chavas.

Tucked between the centre-backs, Rosa Kafaji rose quickly and put her header into the back of the net. With the score in their favor, the Swedish team took control of a match that only brightened up a little in stoppage time, after a string of substitutions from both benches.

In the 86th minute, a header from Ivana Andrés in a corner was the clearest goal for Real Madrid, who then produced two long-range shots, first by Claudia Zornoza and then by Athenea del Castillo. Despite this sudden insistence, Toril's team finished their journey through this Champions League and Häcken celebrated their ticket to the next round
