Real Madrid recovers the goal

Celebrating goals was not being as common a routine for Madrid as in previous seasons. Just a month ago, the white team was going through its worst scoring average of the 20th century, since the 1999-20 season, in the global calculation of all competitions (1.66 goals per game until the derby). In the last four games those of Zidane have taken the pulse of the goal, also coinciding with the resurgence of Asensio's scorer. Madrid scored three goals against Atalanta in the return leg, another three against Celta in Balaídos, two against Eibar (and another three were annulled) and three also against Liverpool. Ready for the assault on the Classic.

Eleven goals in four games. A level that this season had only reached (and reached twelve goals) in a single stretch of five games, coinciding precisely with the Clásico in the first round.. Madrid appeared at the Camp Nou after scoring two futile goals against Shakhtar, scoring three against the Catalans, two at Mönchengladbach, four at Huesca and three at Inter at Di Stéfano.

The streak has coincided with the resurgence of Asensio. The Spaniard, who only had two goals this season, has seen the door in the last four games. Marco has taken over from Benzema, who saw his series of seven consecutive games played (not consecutive for Madrid, as the Frenchman was absent three games due to injury) with a goal being cut short against Liverpool.. Ramos, with a penalty against Atalanta, and Vinicius, with his double against the reds, have completed the list of scorers in these four games.

Madrid have only been able to score three or more goals in a quarter of the 40 games they have played this season. In only two of them (Huesca and Alavés) he scored four goals. The whites have been without a goal in four games (against Real Sociedad, Cádiz, Shakhtar and Osasuna) and in another 13 they have only been able to score one goal. Eight of the 25 Madrid victories this season have been by just one goal difference.

In total, the white team has scored 71 goals this season. Almost a third, 24, are the work of Benzema. Lagging behind the French there are three players with six goals: Casemiro, Asensio and Vinicius. Ramos and Modric have scored four each. Hazard and Valverde have three to their credit. Lucas Vázquez, Varane, Mendy and Kroos have two each and Militao, Rodrygo and Mariano have scored one. Fifteen different scorers (22 players contributed goals last season). Four goals were scored by the rivals at their own goal.
