Obradoiro attacked the Pazo del Breogán

MADRID, 23 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid overwhelmed Joventut (73-101) this Saturday on matchday 15 of the Endesa League to maintain its solid leadership, while Valencia Basket lost (75-81) against Coviran Granada but achieved the mathematical ticket to the Cup King.

Chus Mateo's team celebrated Christmas in short dresses and in Badalona with an exhibition in the first half. The whites scored 10 triples and 53 points to lead the score (35-53) with Mario Hezonja already on 14 points and a PIR of 19. However, Madrid came out on top again after the break.

The leader barely conceded in a great game in defense and in attack he remained in tune, with Dzanan Musa taking command of the operations, with 15 points and a PIR of 21. Each start of the quarter belonged to Madrid and in the last one the final touch came, ending with up to eight players in double digits of rating, to a 'Penya' that came from seven consecutive victories counting Eurocup.

After the defeat of Carles Duran's team, who remain on the edge of the 'Top 8' with eight wins, Barça and Valencia Basket's ticket to the Copa del Rey was confirmed. The 'taronja' team was surprised in La Fonteta by a Granada that reinforced their confidence in the fight from below. Jonathan Rousselle, with 12 points and a PIR of 23, was the best on the Nasrid team.

The Frenchman was especially inspired in the third quarter, where the visiting team escaped on the scoreboard with a 14-23 lead. Granada added a fifth important victory in a condensed lower area, where the Galician derby that closed on Saturday was played.

Monbus Obradoiro beat Río Breogán (88-90) in an intense and tense duel until the final whistle, and even after with the kick on the hardwood. A basket by Fernando Zurbriggen with seven seconds left sealed the sixth victory for those from Santiago, leaving those from Lugo at four, second from bottom.

Howard (18 points) and Scrubb (18) led the visitors in the Pazo of Lugo, an even duel that was decided in the last possessions. There, Río Breogán, in greater need and playing at home, was under more pressure and unable to hit the mark. After Zurbriggen's basket, the home team lost the ball on the throw-in.
