Real Madrid maintains its cushion over Barça with the highest scorer

MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid beat MoraBanc Andorra (85-76) this Sunday in matchday 11 of the Endesa League to maintain a two-win lead over the chasing group, where Barça defeated (115-78) Básquet Girona.

Chus Mateo’s team, who saw a streak of 19 wins without defeat last weekend against Unicaja ended, won a tight match that marked the return of Carlos Alocén 21 months later. Walter Tavares (6 points, 9 rebounds and 30 efficiency) and Mario Hezonja (21 points and 23 efficiency) marked the difference at the WiZink Center.

Andorra wanted to stand up after the break, where the contribution of Fabien Causeur was important for a Madrid that will close November with a double away game in the Euroleague, against Maccabi and Fenerbahce. Mateo’s team responded to the victories on Saturday of UCAM Murcia, Unicaja and Valencia Basket, while Barça won this Sunday, all with two victories.

Roger Grimau’s men posted the sixth highest rating (163) in the history of the Endesa League. The perfect Barcelona storm was unleashed by Willy Hernangómez (20 points, 10 rebounds and a PIR of 36), to seal a derby in which Darío Brizuela (20 points), Oscar Da Silva, Oriol Paulí, Jabari Parker and Álex Abrines also shone. He became the third highest Barça triple scorer.

On the other hand, Baskonia made up for their loss at the buzzer in the Euroleague against AS Monaco with a second straight victory in the League to place themselves eighth, already thinking about the Copa del Rey. Dusko Ivanovic’s team beat (94-86) a BAXI Manresa team that fought until the end despite being down 23 in the second quarter. Moneke (23 points and 35 rating) and Sedekerskis hooked the Basques into that fight to be among the top eight.

In addition, the day left this Sunday with an intense Canarian derby that was decided in extra time at the Gran Canaria Arena, with the victory of Lenovo Tenerife (82-94), a direct duel also for that noble area. Those from Txus Vidorreta equaled the six victories of their island neighbor thanks to the work of Shermadini (24 points, 33 PIR), plus Jaime Fernández and Abromaitis in extra time.

Meanwhile, Río Breogán added the third victory of the course by beating (82-77) Casademont Zaragoza, whom it equals in the standings along with Coviran Granada. A 30-17 lead in the last quarter helped the Galician comeback, with Anderson and Jogela, with 14 points, the local top scorers.
