Real Madrid has its first ‘match point’ at the Palau to reach the final of the Endesa League

The 2-0 in favor of the merengue team has Barça on the ropes

MADRID, 1 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid will visit FC Barcelona this Sunday (6:30 p.m.) in the third game of their Endesa League semi-final, with the meringues on track with a 2-0 win after solid victories at the WiZink Center, driven to the sound of Sergio Llull. in the hot moments and especially under the direction of Facundo Campazzo.

Chus Mateo’s pupils won the first two games of this series, played in the best of five, with two serious exercises of tenacity in the respective second parts. If in the first duel the culés only held the pace until half-time, in the next match Barça’s resistance lasted until midway through the third quarter.

However, Real Madrid’s well-oiled machine produced points without stopping in both games. On May 29, the depth of the bench that Chus Mateo has under his command allowed him to rotate at key moments; and two days later, he turned to sacred cows like the aforementioned Llull, Sergio Rodríguez and Rudy Fernández.

The ‘Chacho’ and the number 23 dealt hard blows from the triple line, especially Llull who has put the white team on his back after the defeat suffered on May 26 against Panathinaikos in the Euroleague final. Far from reproaches, Mateo’s pupils and the merengue coach himself have raised their heads in each subsequent Clásico.

Up front, the team coached by Roger Grimau has shown two faces: the first day, short rotation and with experienced players; The next day, long rotation and opportunity for unconsecrated people. Despite this, they ran out of fuel early in both games, although in the second there was an attempt at a reaction wrapped in controversy.

An apparent push by Madrid center Walter Tavares to Blaugrana center Jan Vesely, in a basket on the counterattack that Nicolás Laprovittola had scored, was not sanctioned by the referee trio and that made both Grimau and his assistant coaches very angry.

From that bench they jumped like a spring to attack the nearest referee, who whistled a technical foul on Grimau when the WiZink electronic screen reflected 99-91 and the visitor’s comeback was in the making just a few seconds before the end of the game, after having scored two goals. triples Álex Abrines, Nico Laprovittola and Tomas Satoransky.

Grimau himself was ironic about the incident between Tavares and Vesely in the press conference after the match, although he did so with determination to take his feet off the ground as little as possible and avoid any type of sanction from the ACB. Meanwhile, Mateo praised his players for the umpteenth time, who at the Palau Blaugrana will have their first ‘match point’ to make it 3-0 in the series and reach the League final.
