Real Madrid gains strength in Europe with a valuable draw against PSG

MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid Women achieved a valuable draw (0-0) this Wednesday against the French Paris Saint-Germain at the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium and successfully resolved a physical match, in their first big test of the season against one of their great rivals in their Champions League group.

Alberto Toril’s men reaped their second consecutive draw, after giving up their first points in the League against Levante (2-2), and sealed the draw in a highly demanding match, adding a point that could be key to their desire to return to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The Madrid team, which got off to a good start in the top continental competition by beating the Albanian KFF Vllaznia 0-2 last week, leads Group A, considered ‘death’, with four points, pending the what happens in the other match between Chelsea and Vllaznia (9:00 p.m.).

The high pressure from the Parisians locked the white team in their field, forced to ‘bail out water’ from the start. Misa saved the first with a good hand to a shot from Lieke Martens, who proved to be the French’s most dangerous player, hitting another ball off the crossbar.

Alberto Toril’s men were able to withstand the intensity and high pace imposed by Gérard Prêcheur’s men, offering a very good defensive level. They even had occasion to get ahead on the scoreboard but the quality of Caroline Weir, absent in the last two white commitments due to injury, was not enough to worry Bouhaddi.

Forced to demonstrate their greater experience and quality in the highest competition, the French took advantage of the break to recharge their batteries and once again subdue Alberto Toril’s men in an overwhelming start to the second half. Misa reappeared to become great against Diani and avoid the first goal of the French. He wanted to hit the white team back but Toletti sent the ball wide with an empty goal.

From then on, good minutes for White who once again threatened Bouhaddi’s goal, first from Esther’s boots, repelled by the post, and then Weir, after sending a good ball from Olga Carmona into the clouds. PSG let go of the accelerator and that was taken advantage of by the Madrid team that took the initiative to the end and was able to take the three points, in an even game with which they demonstrate their competitive leap in Europe.

Real Madrid thus takes revenge on one of its black beasts in the competition, with which it already had to deal last year, adding two defeats, a very tough one in Paris (4-0) and a tighter one in Madrid ( 0-2), still with David Aznar as coach. The French team did not start their journey in this Champions League in the best way and, after losing to Chelsea 0-1 at the Parc des Princes, they only add one point in the competition.
