The Spanish exporter Miguel Ángel González Suárez, goalkeeper for Real Madrid from 1968 to 1986, suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the Madrid club confirmed this Saturday, which has sent him its “strength and affection” to face the disease.
“From Real Madrid CF we transmit all our strength and our affection to Miguel Ángel, one of the great goalkeepers in our history. We are with him and his family in their fight against ALS, adding to their strength and spirit of improvement, which has always shown”, said the white entity.
The 74-year-old from Ourense joined Real Madrid in 1967, with whom he won eight League titles, five Cups and two UEFA Cups. In total, he donned the Merengue team shirt 346 times.
In addition, Miguel Ángel was capped 18 times with Spain, with which he started in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina; he was also part of the Spanish team in the World Cup in Spain’82.
