Real Madrid examines its undefeated record in an unbeatable Fonteta

Valencia Basket threatens the Madrid team under the protection of their fiefdom, where they have not lost in the Euroleague, and their good basketball

MADRID, 13 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid visits Valencia Basket this Tuesday (8:30 p.m.) on matchday 8 of the Regular Phase of the Euroleague 2023-2024, a duel in which the whites examine their current great moment, with full victories and European leadership against a ‘taronja’ team, invincible in this competition in La Fuente de San Luis and with the desire to continue in the fight for the top positions of the tight table supported by the good basketball it is offering.

La Fonteta will be the scene of the Spanish duel between two of the most competitive teams at this start of the maximum continental competition. The locals, with a record of 5-2 in the Euroleague, are sixth after a positive start to the season, sheltered in an impregnable fiefdom with four key wins in as many games. An outstanding performance that now puts Real Madrid to the test, the sole leader (6-0) and still with a game in hand.

The ‘taronja’ fiefdom will be another test for Chus Mateo’s men, who continue to be launched in this start of the campaign, with full victories in their official matches (16), the last of them, this Sunday with a lot of suffering against Surne Bilbao Basket by 84-87 and again with a decisive Facundo Campazzo, a differential factor in this start.

That dominance is now threatened by a Valencia Basket that has suffered a small drop in play after suffering two consecutive defeats against Joventut (80-76) and, very painful in the Euroleague, against Emporio Armani Milan (83-52), although they recovered this weekend in their fort against Casademont Zaragoza (76-69) thanks to a good second half and with which they hope to gain strength for a tough week with a European visit to Barça on Friday and a duel at home on Sunday against Baskonia.

Valencia Basket has already been able to beat potential rivals at home such as AS Monaco (70-65), Fenerbahce (77-74) and Maccabi (75-66), all with a common denominator that is key as is the defense since Real Madrid averages 88 points per game in this Regular Phase and has just scored 100 points per game last week in the Virtus.

Alex Mumbrú will face the game with the doubts of the point guards Chris Jones and Stefan Jovic, and that of the center Boubacar Touré, while Jared Harper, another point guard, is definitely out to try to stop the eleven-time European champion, full of arguments in This brilliant start to the season and they have beaten Valencia Basket in their last five games, all of them with their respective coaches on the bench.

The current European champion is at an impressive pace, which is set by Campazzo, ‘MVP’ of the last day, and key on both sides of the court for a team that, in addition to being the best scorer in the Euroleague, is the which has the highest average rating (104.5), the best defensive rebound (27.2) and the leader in assists (22.2).
